Theorist: Andrew Goodwin

Music demonstrates genre characteristics/ codes and conventions (e.g. stage performance)

Andrew Goodwin believed that narrative and performance in a song, is important for an artist to be involved in the music video by performing or acting out a role as the main character or singer. This is to make the video realistic which gives the audiemce a special relationship with the perticular song.

A good example of this is a song ROAR by Katy Perry. She is the main actress in the song and she also sings in it as well, and it helps the video as it's making it look professional and realistic which also helps engage with the audience.

My music video conforms to the RnB characteristics, becuase our main character is shown through high cut perfromance shots showing her feelings and emotions in the forest. This reinforces our narrative, becuase we contrast the relationship between Elles bestfriend boyfriend, which kind of develops our storyline, becuase in RnB songs it's always about break ups and heartaches.

The relationship between lyrics and visuals is amplifying as we show a clear understanding through our narrative and what is really going in the frame. The target audience is primarly aimed towards 15-35 yrs old.
